This is part 2 of my Paju journeys. This time, I visited the English Village and the Paju Book City.
I finally visited the Paju English Village! I know it was a dying attraction but hey, that was the closest to Europe I'd get. To me, it was a good thing that the village was empty. That way, I could take more clean shots without worrying about a crowd.
The village has a stupid fee of KRW3,000 which is probably the only reason this village is still alive. The village has halls, cafeterias, classrooms, and dormitories to house and host the campers.
The village took me about an hour and a half because we took our own time.
Directions: From Line 2 or Line 6 Hapjeong station exit 2, take the 2200 bus to Paju English Village 영어마을. Get off and walk to the village entrance to pay the fee.

To get lunch, we left the empty village and headed back to the Paju Book City.
Directions: Walk out of the village to the bus stop opposite the Quilt Cafe. Board the 2200 bus and alight at BookSen.
Well that's my direction but we alighted one stop earlier because we saw some publishing companies. We walked ahead a little and found this restaurant called Casamia. The building's concept is like IKEA's, having furniture on sale with a small cafeteria. They serve western food with slight Asian fusions, and sauces produced by the brand company. We ordered the set that had one pasta dish of our choice, one pizza of our choice, salad, and soda. It cost KRW36,000.

After lunch, we tried to explore the Book City. We were hella lost. Also, everything was closed because it was New Year's Eve so we just tried to find the bus home. We passed by some more book buildings and found the entrance to Book City.
In all honesty, I'd skip the Book City. It was full of books but not open for reception.
REMINDER: One bus ride on the 2200 costs KRW2,000! Make your plans wisely.
Hey, interesting stuff! Why do you say this place is dying? I heard it is still popular?
ReplyDeleteHey! It's still popular because it's been a popular filming location for MVs and variety shows. The only people who go there are fans or mass camp groups. Otherwise, there isn't English going on at all.
